Burn after reading by the Coen Brothers at UGC

I saw it today with my PALE students and I laughed a few times. The characters are fantastic: John Malkovich, as ex-CIA agent Osborne Cox, Brad Pitt, as personal trainer Chad Feldheimer,Frances McDormand, as personal trainer Linda Litzke and George Clooney, as Federal Marshal Harry Pfarrer. The situations are very comic although the plot lacks the talent of previous work by the Coen brothers, like Fargo or last year’s No Country For Old Men.
The story is absurd but shows memorable scenes like the one where the two personal trainers are trying to blackmail the CIA agent or the scene at the park where Linda Litzke meets her previous date.
To conclude, a comedy of characters, a good team, some humour but not the Coen talent at its best.

Another surrealistic Cohen's brothers film. An ironic comedy about money, ambition and the american way of life. Black humour is constantly showed in the film, always supported by a sparking actor's performance.

It´s Adolfo´s group(Paula,Piedad).

Burnt after reading is a great film. It deals with the consequences of the superficial people's acts.

It is a hilarious movie where we can see the stereotypes of present day American people, their marriage infidelities, their ambitions in order to become a different people, their hopes and inside fears, their obsessions.

The movie title is a joke. In spies secret messages you must read them and later you must burn them. Thus you have to see these stereotypes such as bad examples and try not to imitate them in our life. You must burn them after watching the movie.

Burn after Reading, the last Coen brothers comedy, it`s a funny film with an intelligent plot which critizes different models of personality through a story connected with American Inteligence and confidential information. Roles like the ambitious, the silly, unfightfull, the obsessed by her body and the sex addict are shown to the spectator like the components of the American society nowadays.
I recommend it to you whole heartedly

About burn after reading I enjoy specially with Frances McDormand and Brad Pitt. All film made me laugh a lot but specially these two actors. Brad Pitt seems another person in this film, his performance was fantastic.
When the film finished I thougt it was a funny film but not the best Coen brothers' film becasuse the script is really simple but after think about the film I realized the film analyzes in a very smart way diferent human types we can find in real life

I really enjoyed this film, I’m not specially a fan of Coen brothers’ films but I liked this one. The story and the characters make fun of the classical spy films and they use a very ironic humor that don’t like to many people
I found very funny the part that Brad Pitt plays, a normal boy that finds something by chance, imagines a fantastic story with it and finally dies living his fantasy.

I enjoyed this film. As with all Coen brother movies, there are going to be people who love it and people that hate it. There doesn't seem to be much middle ground. I loved this movie. It was entertaining, dark and very funny. I didn't really liked "No Country for Old Men", too bloody for me, but I have to say, "Burn After Reading" was a more enjoyable film for me.

I couldn't watch the film, although I think you all have the same opinion about it.

We agree with Adolfo's comment about the film. We don't think "Burn after reading" is the best Coen's movie, but we had a good time at the cinema. Ambition and money rule the world, leaving aside other important aspects of the daily life.

Emma,Maria José and Raquel.
We think that all the comments are pretty good.We agree with our classmates because they reflect the same thoughts.
Besides Cohen´s brothers films are always in the same way( they try to provoke the audience).
Anyway we reckon you to watch the film.

This is Piedad (PALE).
I agree with Isabel's comment.
It was funny, I enjoyed mainly the characters of Brad Pitt and Frances McDormand. The plot is a bit unusual because the time of the film is really brief, two or three days and the rhythm is quick, many things happen almost at the same time.
It was a surprise to see a desperate George Clooney who finds himself with a dead body and how he manages to get rid of it.
In my opinion,it's a film to relax and laugh and then to think about all the stereotypes we can find there.

I agree with Mª Angeles. Burn After Reading is an ironic and surrealistic comedy typical of Coen's brothers. I would add, that it is also a funny film where we can enjoy, specially, Brad Pitt's performance.

I absolutely agree with Adolfo´s group opinnion. All the film is a joke related to the title, which involves the plot and the characters;deserving a special recognition Brad Pit and George Cluny´s performance by their unusual roles as antiheros.

Hello! I didn't know where to include my comment. Finally, I decided to write it here because we've been writing our comments in this section. Mine it's about "Friends", the TV series.

REVIEW ABOUT "FRIENDS"

The world - famous series "Friends" attracted our attention during our last PALE's lesson on Wednesday, the 26th.
We spent some minutes of the English lesson in order to see a "Friends'" episode, which was funny and humorous. In addition to that, the actors worked well as a team: they were brillianr, ironic and very good - looking. One of the characters called Monica, an insecure selfish woman, took an important an important role in this episode in which she's engaged with Chandler. She was very determined to get married with him, showing us her choosy face.
The action takes place in Monica's flat, where she and Chandler have organised an engagement party. However, something unexpected happens what breaks up the party. Nevertheless, the episode has a happy ending and it makes us to be expecting for the next one!

First at all...MERRY CHRISTMAS for everyone!!
I went to the cinema this week and I saw this film.
I don't really know if it is the best film of Cohen's brothers or not, what I known is that was time along that i didn't laugh so much with an american film!!
I found it awfully funny!!
I don't specially like american films(excepting independent films or animation films)but in my opinion, in this film Brad Pitt's performance is the best one of all his career and maybe George Clooney's too.
