2012 American Elections.
Comment about debate Mr. Obama vs. Mr. Romney. They run for President.
October 14th, 2012. By Miguel Garcia.
Mr. Romney started the debate telling that “the deficit was one $trillion for the last four years. I have three solutions to solve the deficit problem. Number one: To raise taxes, Number two: To cut spending and Number three: To grow the economy”, what Mr. Obama replied was that “when I took the office the deficit was bigger”.
Speaking in general terms, they agreed to the main problems of the country. “The economy, the unemployment and the Social Security or Healthcare” The differences between them were in how to solve the problems.
Mr. Obama wants to improve the Social Security, to reduce the unemployment and to balance the federal budget, basically increasing the taxes to the people who have or earn much money.
Mr. Romney said that his preference was to create employment so, he said to Mr. Obama” If you raise the taxes, the economy and the jobs bring down. Reducing or bringing down the taxes people have more money and they spend more so, it increases the jobs and ensuing the revenues so, obviously, if the revenues are bigger, you can balance the federal budget and improve the Social Security”. Although, Mr. Romney added that he thought that the private market in the healthcare worked best.

These are the five most important interventions of each:

BARACK OBAMA
 1. On the economy, throughout the debate, President Barack Obama stressed the importance of supporting and encouraging the middle class: "America does best when the middle class does best" he said repeatedly.
2. "Budgets matter because they reflect the choices that are made."
3. "The reason we have been in such a enormous economic crisis was prompted by reckless behavior across the board. And so the question is: Does anybody out there think that the big problem we had is that there was too much oversight and regulation of Wall Street? Because if you do, then Governor Romney is your candidate."
4. Regarding the role that government should play, Obama stressed its importance in the life of citizens: "The first role of the federal government is to keep the American people safe."
5. "Four years ago, I said that I'm not a perfect man and I wouldn't be a perfect president. But I also promised that I'd fight every single day on behalf of the American people and the middle class, and I've kept that promise." he said.

MITT ROMNEY
 1. With regard to the deficit and the federal debt, the Republican candidate Mitt Romney was emphatic: "I think it's, frankly, not moral for my generation to keep spending massively more than we take in, knowing those burdens are going to be passed on to the next generation and they're going to be paying the interest and the principal all their lives."
2. Romney defended the need to maintain regulatory level. "Regulation is essential. You can't have a free market work if you don't have regulation, but at the same time, regulation can become excessive and obsolete".
3. "Middle-income families are being crushed, with lower wages and higher prices. The question is how to relocate these families up and improve their conditions."
4. The Republican candidate was totally opposed to the reform of the health of President Obama. "The right answer is not to have the federal government take over health care and start mandating to the providers across America, telling a patient and a doctor what kind of treatment they can have. That's the wrong way to go. The private market and individual responsibility always work best."
5. In his final speech, Romney stressed his concern about an America that, in his opinion, is suffering. "This is bigger than an election about the two of us as individuals. It's bigger than our respective parties. It's an election about the course of America. "

“America does well if middle class does well” this is what both Obama and Romney believe. But the path that Romney suggests to achieve this is different from the Obama’s one. So here they are to talk about their future plans and intentions.
First of all they express their opinions about job creation. While Romney mentions some steps to create new jobs emphasizing the trade, energy independence etc., Obama brings up the importance of investing in education and job training. As far as I could understand, Romney doesn’t give any importance to that and is eager to create jobs without enough skills and qualifications.
The second statement of their discussion has been the Federal deficit. Romney’s plan is to cut spending and, at the same time, make the economy grow. According to Obama’s research it’s quite difficult. He suggests that in order to get money for investing in health and education or new energy resources US must continue with its taxing system.
And finally they are suggested to express their opinions about taxes, revenues, special security etc. The only thing I am surprised with is that Romney insists that US must cut down its taxes and revenues without thinking over its secondary effects. And what does Obama say is that it doesn’t make sense because in that case America will not be able to grow properly.
To sum up my opinion I would like to add that if we listen to the video attentively we’ll see that both of them are going over and over the same things. Hope the Americans will have a success with their 57th presidential elections making the right decision.
